With the construction side of the
                                               business ticking along nicely,
                                               something Scott hopes will con-
tinue for the next few years, their
                                               focus is on their newly-opened
                                               showroom inside the Armoury and
the retail home décor business they
                                               have created.
                                                  The beautifully-crafted show-
room is also an airy retail space
open to the public where everyone
is welcome to browse and shop. While becoming
a Farrow and Ball stockist was the starting point
and the thing that clinched it for them in deciding
to open the space – the closest suppliers previ-
ously were Port Hope or Kingston — the idea for
the store came out of need.
The couple found themselves always sourcing
product outside the area for their clients, as well
as for themselves, when it came to specific home
design and decorative items because what they
                                    were after wasn’t available locally.
“There are furniture stores, but it didn’t seem
to be what was fitting the bill,” says Angela. “I
was getting tired of travelling, so I thought we
needed something here – I guess it was just out of
                                    laziness,” she laughs.
While they had been thinking about the store
idea for some time, Angela says they didn’t have
the space or the time. “Not that we have the time
now,” she adds. They opened their doors in Oc-
tober last year, but have had to close for a good
chunk of that time to comply with COVID-19
                                    lockdown restrictions.
Angela explains how if someone is looking for
a rug or a sofa for example, they don’t have to
necessarily head to the city. “A lot of this stuff is
not available locally or even in Belleville or
Kingston and we were driving to the city,
whether Toronto or Ottawa, to find these prod-
                                    ucts,” she says.
“So Angela thought it would be better to bring
the city here,” adds Scott. Along with decorative
items, such as cushions, throws, rugs, lamps and
more, they offer flooring, soft furnishings and
kitchens. “It’s like two stores combined,” says
Angela. The space is accessed by their clients, the
